WOULD YOU GO BACK?

What started out as a personal photographic project shooting aspects of Cuban culture in Miami, FL soon became something much bigger. In trying to establish where the center of modern Cuban culture is today, in Miami or in Cuba, the exploration went beyond still photography. Cuban Americans are asked if they would ever go back to Cuba – even if it is just for a visit. This is what they had to say.

The goal was to get a few bits and pieces of imagery, fragments of the cuban culture which to me seems to be the very soul of South Florida. Really some images for ideas for new projects. We were also looking at the Spanish influence on some of the older architecture there. Our other goal was to buy some cigars. It was an interesting afternoon, and I came back with a lot of ideas for various projects – stories and opportunities I had not come across when I used to live in Miami. It was pretty weird that it all happened during a few hours one Saturday afternoon.
